Save the Earth
Saving Our Earth - Together
Our Mission:
Our mission is to educate, inspire, and empower children to protect Earth's environment.
At CHIJ (Katong) Primary, we believe that every one of us has a responsibility to care for the planet we call home. Our mission is simple but powerful: to educate, inspire, and empower our students to protect Earth's environment — one small action at a time.
Through our programmes, students discover the importance of recycling, managing food waste, and separating trash the right way. But learning doesn't stop at the school gate. We encourage our students to bring these habits home, making sustainability a way of life for their families and communities too.
We want every child at CHIJ (Katong) Primary to feel proud to be part of a school that truly cares — about the environment, about the future, and about the world they will inherit. Because when young people understand the impact of their choices, they become the changemakers our planet needs.

Composting of food scraps
Canteen vendors deposit their food waste into containers provided at each stall. These containers are collected daily and the waste is processed in a composting machine. The resulting compost is then used as fertiliser for our school gardens. On average, about 4 - 5 kg of compost is produced each term.
-Introduce different portion sizes
Posters are put up to remind students not to waste food and to help turn their food waste into fertilisers.
Primary 2 students were assigned a Save The Earth Upcycling Project with parents/guardians.
