International Friendship Day
Mabuhay! Our school commemorated International Friendship Day on 8 April with the theme "Forging Friendships in a Complex World."
This year’s country in focus is The Philippines! Students took part in a special one-hour recess experience to explore the culture and heritage of the Philippines. They learnt about traditional Filipino attires, practices such as the the kamayan (communal eating with hands) and games such as the Tiyakad (racing on tin cans) and Battle Lata. They also learnt simple conversational Tagalog and weaving (paghahabi) techniques. During the assembly programme, students learnt more about The Philippines being the ASEAN Chair of the year and its significance. Beyond the activities, our students understood the importance of friendships, working and accepting one another.
Together, we play our part in forging friendships in a complex world — Strong As One!
