Developing Confident Communicators and Thinkers
Our Mother Tongue programme develops students into confident and thoughtful users of their language, aligned with the MOE’s 21st Century Competencies (E21CC).
In a safe and nurturing environment, students are encouraged to express their ideas, listen to others, and grow in confidence. Teachers create supportive classroom spaces where every student feels valued and is given opportunities to participate, take risks, and learn from one another.
Through purposeful interactions and meaningful learning experiences, students learn to communicate clearly, think about what they say, and build on the ideas of others. They come to see language as a way to connect, express, and make sense of the world.

A Progressive and Meaningful Learning Journey
Our curriculum is designed to build confidence first, then depth, and finally independence in language use.
Lower Primary – Building Confidence
Students are immersed in engaging language experiences through songs,
stories, and interactive activities. In a supportive setting, they develop
listening and speaking skills while growing in confidence to use the language.
Middle Primary – Deepening Use
Students apply their language skills in more meaningful contexts. Through
guided discussions, collaborative tasks, and interdisciplinary learning,
they learn to organise their ideas and communicate with greater clarity.
Upper Primary – Expressing Thinking
Students express their views, explain their thinking, and engage in more
extended communication. They learn to use language purposefully across
contexts, developing confidence and independence.
Across all levels, teachers provide guidance and feedback to support reflection, improvement, and ownership of learning.

Learning Beyond the Classroom
Students experience the Mother Tongue as a living language through authentic and culturally rich experiences.

Through these experiences, students develop language proficiency alongside a deeper appreciation of culture and identity. They learn to communicate with confidence, relate to others with respect, and use language meaningfully beyond the classroom.
