P1 Singapore Art Museum LJ 2019

The Primary 1 students visited the Learning Gallery at the Singapore Art Museum for their learning journey in Term 1.
The Learning Gallery is dedicated to the engagement and discussion of broader issues through contemporary artworks from the museum’s permanent collection and special commissions. The students viewed selected artworks from the exhibition Once Upon This Island. These artworks were selected to extend learning and teaching outside the classroom setting as they navigate ideas of home, community, identity and memory.

The students participated in an interactive art piece entitled We Are Family done by Vicente Delgado, Self-Portrait (No More Tears, Mr. Lee) by Jason Wee and 2 photo collages done by Dawn Ng entitled HDB corridor and Mama shop.
The students then attended a hands-on workshop where each student made a finger puppet with materials provided.

Christie Koo from Mocha 1 said she liked going to the museum because she saw an interesting artwork made of soft toys entitled We are Family and she made a finger puppet.

Alison Kuay from Tangerine 1 liked the soft toys from We are Family as well as they were soft and had bells in them. She also enjoyed making the finger puppet.

Everyone left the museum with big smiles and they had learnt that though we are all different, we can 'link' together to be a stronger community through unity.
