English Language and Arts Week 2019

English Language and Arts Week was held from 15 to 19 July 2019. The girls participated in a host of activities and enjoyed themselves as they learned. Some of the girls showcased their talents. We were charmed by Colette’s violin performance and enthralled by Christine’s piano piece. Naomi Chio entertained us with an exciting story and Celine, Carmen and Istat convinced us that we must be kind to Mother Earth.

The girls had fun with intra-class competitions.

Primary 5 and 6 girls had to write a haiku using brush lettering.

Primary 3 and 4 girls did cursive writing and poetry recitation.

Primary 1 and 2 girls dressed up as their favourite storybook characters.

They also enjoyed various recess activities like movie-screening cum quiz, book-mark making, and Epic Orchestra.

To enthuse our girls to read more avidly, we also invited authors to speak to the whole school. The authors who came were Tina Sim and Alan Bay engaged by NLB, Gabby Tye from EduWorks and Ms Chrishirl of WONDER books from Readers’ House. They spoke on how they were inspired to write their own books and where they received their ideas to write. The girls were amazed when they learnt that Gabby Tye published her first book at age 14.  Some girls told their teachers that they were really inspired to start their own writing after her talk.

Paddington Bear (Ms Sharina) made an appearance and the P1 girls were very excited when Paddington Bear shared a story with them.
