Our Primary 6 students went on an ARTS Learning Journey to the Esplanade

Blue Ribbon Awards 2018

On 8 November 2018, our members of the staff  received their Blue Ribbon awards organized by Sony Creative Science Award (SCSA ) at Science Centre.


P2 LJ to National Orchid Garden 2018

On the 23rd, 27th & 31st of July, our Primary 2 girls went on a learning journey to the National Orchid Garden (NOG) which is located at the Singapore Botanic Gardens. 


P5 NE Show 2018

On 21st July, the Primary 5 girls from CHIJ (Katong) Primary proudly donned their red shirts and gathered excitedly in school for the NE Show 2018. This year’s theme, “We Are Singapore”, celebrates the collective voice and the Singapore spirit, emphasizing togetherness regardless of our origins.

P3 SS LJ - Heritage Walk along Katong 2018

Our Primary 3 girls took a relaxing walk along Katong area on 10th,11th and 12th July with their teachers and parent volunteers.  The re-developed Katong, which was once filled with coconut plantations, is now a charming corner of eastern Singapore. 


88th Anniversary Carnival

CHIJ (Katong) Primary celebrated its 88th Anniversary with a blast! The carnival that everyone was looking forward to took place on Saturday, 30 June 2018.  


P6 IJ Recollection Day 2018

The Primary 6 girls had their IJ Day of Recollection on the 9th of July 2018. With the help of the teachers and parent volunteers, the girls were shown a series of Powerpoint slides featuring the different aspects of their school life over the years.


Brownies Learning Journey 2018

Two Brownie Guiders and twelve Brownies and Tweenies went to explore nature in a learning journey to Jacob Ballas Children's Garden on a wet morning on 30 May 2018. 


P2 Arts Learning Journey 2018

During the month of April, the Primary 2 students went on a Learning Journey to the Singapore Repertory Theatre. The pupils watched a play entitled: The Nightingale.


Prefects' Investiture & Installation of Monitors 2018

The Prefects’ Investiture and the Installation of Monitors Ceremony was held in the school hall on 21st February 2018. It was a solemn ceremony where recognition was given to all the student leaders in the school. 

P4 Learning Journey to Kampong Glam 2018

On the 17th of May, our Primary 4 pupils went to Kampong Glam for a heritage trial. Together with their teachers and facilitators, they walked along Bussorah Street and visited the Malay Heritage Centre and the Sultan Mosque.

Let's Recycle with Our Fathers and Neighbours

As a post exam activity after SA1, the Science department collaborated with our 'Let's Recycle with our Fathers' group to collect newspapers from the nearby neighbourhood. All P5 and P6 Science monitors and P5 Economy Drive ambassadors were involved and they went from door to door to collect recyclables.


P4 LJ to National Gallery Singapore 2018

The Primary Fours went on an Arts Learning Journey to the National Gallery Singapore in April. The animated facilitators lead them through the works of a variety of Singaporean artists. 


SYF Choir Presentation 2018

On Friday,13 April, 72 of our Choir girls went to SOTA for the 2018 Singapore Youth Festival Arts  Presentation for Choirs (Primary).


NSG for Artistic Gymnastics 2018

Congratulations to all the gymnasts who participated in the Artistic Gymnastics National School Games (NSG) from 10 April to 13 April 2018!  Our gymnasts displayed commitment and resilience as they gave their best at the Games.

Brownie Revel 2018

The 11th Annual East Division Brownie Revel was held at CHIJ Katong Convent on 7 April 2018. 29 Brownies participated in this event which was jointly organised by the Girl Guides from CHIJ Katong Convent, Bedok View Secondary School, Cedar Girls, Chung Cheng High School (Main), Geylang Methodist, Pasir Ris Crest Secondary School and Tampines Secondary School.


P5 Nature Trail 2018

Every year, the Primary 5 students go to East Coast Park for a Nature Trail. Organised by the Science department, 3 volunteers from each class were trained to be Nature Guides. 


Let’s Recycle with our Friends and Fathers 2018

Let’s Recycle with our Friends and Fathers activity takes place every last week of the month. Every pupil in the school is involved in bringing their used papers for recycling during that week.


P6 LJ to Science Centre 2018

The primary 6 students embarked on a learning journey to the Science Centre on 7 February 2018. The learning journey was intended for the students to view the exhibits on display as well as to experience the lessons specially planned for them.


P1 Learning Journey to Art Science Museum 2018

In Term 1, the Primary One students ventured on their first Learning Journey in Primary School. They went to the Singapore Art Museum @ Q8. Students were exposed to the Cinerama exhibits where they learnt more about moving images. 


Beginning of Year Mass 2018

The beginning of year mass was celebrated by all the staff and students on 12 January 2018. The theme of the mass was ‘Planted in Love’ and it reflects our overall theme of the year ‘Loving Hearts And Serving Hands’.

P1 (2018) Orientation

Our Primary One Orientation was held on Friday, 17 November 2017.  The girls were warmly welcomed into the school by prefects and members of the staff. 

Thanksgiving Mass 2017

The theme of our Thanksgiving Mass this year is As One in Thanksgiving. Mass started with a moment of quiet contemplation, as our students reflected on their memories, words and actions during the year. 

P6 Graduation Party 2017

The P6 Graduation Party was held on Friday, 3 November, at Crowne Plaza Changi Airport. The students turned out in beautiful dresses and were treated to many fun-filled activities and a sumptuous lunch. 


P6 Career Awareness Day 2017

The P6 Career Awareness Talk has been a main feature in the post PSLE programme. This talk was organised for our graduating classes to familiarise them with some interesting and much-sought after career options. 


P6 Change & Transition Workshop 2017

On 13 October 2017, in collaboration with the Health Promotion Board, the school organised a workshop in hopes to equip our students with the tools they would need to move on to the next phase of their lives – secondary school. 


Junior & Star Health Troopers 2017

During their last CCA session of the year, the Brownies went to the Health Promotion Board to learn more about how they can take care of their health through their diet, exercising and lifestyle choices. 


P4 Maths Trail @ Changi Airport 2017

In September, the Primary 4 pupils went to Changi Airport and had a good time going through the Mathematics Trail. It was an engaging learning experience as the students discovered how Mathematics is all around us. 


P5 Maths Trail @ Sentosa 2017

Our P5 students went on a Mathematics trail to Sentosa on Wednesday, 20th September 2017.  It was a stimulating experience for them as the activities involved solving every day mathematical problems while interacting with their classmates. 


Draw My Stamp Story Art Competition 2017

In August, some of our P3 to P6 students participated in the 'Draw My Stamp Story' Art Competition, organised by Singapore Philatelic Museum.


Let's Recycle with Our Friends and Fathers 2017

Every last week of the month is Recycling Week @ IJ Katong. During this week, students bring their used papers, plastics and metals for recycling. 


Racial Harmony Day 2017

Every year around 21st July, schools in Singapore commemorate Racial Harmony Day to mark the anniversary of the 1964 racial riots. This year, the theme for Racial Harmony Day is “Our Singapore Way”. 

ARTS Assembly 2017 - SG Festivals & Celebrations

On Wednesday, 2 August, the Sri Warisan Som Said Performing Arts Ltd and the Singapore Multi-Ethnic Dance Ensemble delighted the students, teachers and staff with a dance presentation, Singapore Festivals and Celebrations at Assembly. 


National Day @ IJ Katong 2017

We celebrated the nation’s 52nd birthday with many interesting activities on Tuesday, 8th August 2017. The theme this year, ‘One Nation Together’, reminds all of us to stand together to overcome all odds and that we belong as one people and one nation regardless of origin and background. 


Art Exhibition @ IJ Katong 2017

Our Art Exhibition this year was held during Arts Week from 19th to 26th July. The Art Exhibition aims to develop in our students an appreciation for Art and also serves as a platform to showcase our students’ creative artwork.


P6 LJ to Science Centre 2017

On 24 and 26 July 2017, two groups of Primary 6 classes attended two mass lectures separately at the Singapore Science Centre. The first group attended a lecture on Light while the second group attended the topic on Forces. 


ARTS Assembly 2017 - Art Explorers Club Celebrates

On Wednesday, 19 July, Art Outreach Singapore presented the visual art program “Art Explorers Club Celebrates the Singapore Story at Assembly.  The girls were invited to journey back in time to discover Singapore’s history through key artworks from pioneer Singaporean artists.


IJ Day of Recollection 2017

On the 7th of July 2017, the Primary 6 girls had their IJ Day of Recollection. With the help of the teachers and parent volunteers, the girls were treated to a video montage and a sharing session to reminisce their journey as an IJ girl, from when they were in Primary 1 all the way through to Primary 6.


ARTS Assembly 2017 - Race for Reality

On Wednesday, 12 July, the Interaction Arts Drama Network performed “Race for Reality”, an International Friendship/Racial Harmony Day Programme special at Assembly.  


P5 LJ to Little India 2017

Our P5 students went on a learning journey to Little India on 12 July 2017. It was an interactive trail where they were placed in groups of threes to experience mobile learning, encompassing the concept of self-directed and collaborative learning.

EAS Appreciation Day 2017

This year’s EAS (Executive & Administrative Staff) Appreciation Day was held on 28th of June 2017.


Singapore Athletics Under 13 Track and Field Championship 2017

On 1 July (Saturday), Track and Field girls took part in Singapore Athletics Under 13 Track and Field Championship 2017 held at Toa Payoh Stadium. 


Promoting Emergency Preparedness @ IJ Katong 2017

In line with the SGSecure national movement, teachers and cadets from CHIJ KC NCDCC came to CHIJ (Katong) Primary on 23 May 2017 to set up booths as part of their Service Month project to promote emergency preparedness.


Founder's Day 2017

Generous in Spirit, openness of heart, always ready to serve. These words of our founder Blessed Nicolas Barre became alive and meaningful for CHIJ Katong Primary as students, staff and parents of the school celebrated Founder’s Day on Friday, May 26th. 


P1 LJ to Gardens By The Bay 2017

During Weeks 4 and 5 of Term 2, the P1 level had the opportunity to explore the Heritage Gardens at Gardens by the Bay. 


Performance @ The Deck 2017

On two consecutive Wednesdays in April, P1 to P4 students performed songs about international friendship and songs from famous musicals and movies during their recesses at the Performance Deck.  


National Track & Field Championships 2017

Our Track and Field Team took part in the 58th National School Games SPSSC Track & Field Championships 2017 from 22 March to 10 April. 


Hydroponics @ IJ Katong 2017

The Science Club girls have embarked on a new Hydroponics project. Hydroponics is gardening without soil and is a great way to grow vegetables, fruits and herbs under totally controlled conditions. It involves using artificial lighting. 

HUSH...Let's Read 2017

HUSH... Let's Read is a termly school-wide silent reading activity conducted in the school hall before morning assembly. This activity encourages students and staff alike to engage in reading a book of their choice in silence. 

English Story-Telling Session @ MRL 2017

Primary 1 and 2 students were treated to a 'delicious' story-telling session at the Media Resource Library on Thursday, 6 April during recess. 

H2Olypmics Amazing Race 2017

Over the holidays, 11 March 2017, two teams of eight girls, comprising Primary 5 and 6 Science Monitors, participated in the H2Olypmics Amazing Race at Dunman High School.


World Thinking Day 2017

24 Brownies gathered in school at 6.45am on a Saturday morning to celebrate the World Thinking Day with the other sister Guides and Brownies in Singapore. The event is celebrated annually by Guiding sisters all around the world to commemorate our founders’, Lord Baden-Powell’s and his wife Lady Baden-Powell’s birthday. 


National Sailing Championships 2017

Between 28 March to 31 March, 10 of our advanced sailors participated in the National Sailing Championships 2017. The girls displayed the virtues of perseverance, resilience and commitment as they had to brave through tough storms and bad weather during some of the races.


Brownie Revel 2017

On 25 March 2017, 19 Brownies went to the 10th Annual East Division Brownie Revel held at CHIJ Katong Convent. It was organised by the Girl Guide Companies of CHIJ Katong Convent, Geylang Methodist Secondary, Chung Cheng High School and Cedar Girls’ Secondary.  


National School Games Championship 2017

On 28th & 29th March, our seven Junior and seven Senior gymnasts participated in the National School Games Championship. Our girls gave their best in the competition, which gave them good exposure and a great learning experience.


Sports Day 2017

Our school’s biennial Sports Day was held on 10th March, at Victoria Junior College's track. After many rounds of selections and heats, the day finally came for the competitors to put themselves to the test on the ‘big stage’.


National Primary School Sport Climbing Championships 2017

On the 22nd and 23rd of March, seven of our girls participated in the National Primary School Sport Climbing Championships (NPSSCC) organised by Hougang Primary School. 


P4 LJ to Kampong Glam 2017

In March, the Primary 4 students went on a Learning Journey to Kampong Glam and had a guided tour along the heritage trail.

Arts Monitors LJ 2017

During the March Holidays, the Arts Monitors went on a Learning Journey to the Thow Kwang Pottery Jungle.  Thow Kwang Dragon Kiln is one of the oldest surviving brick–built Kilns in Singapore for wood firing. 


Local Author Book Talk 2017

On 8 March 2017, an award-winning local author, Ms Pauline Loh, from Readers House’s was invited to our school to give an assembly talk about her book ‘Not in the Stars’. 


Tang Quartet Classical Adventures 2017

On 1st March 2017, the world renowned and premier string quartet of Singapore, the Tang Quartet performed Classical Adventures at Assembly. Students were introduced to Classical Chamber Music, the differences in appearance and sound range of the instruments of a string quartet, familiar classical tunes, and different techniques of playing the instruments.  


P5 Nature Trail 2017

This year the primary 5 students embarked on a learning journey to East Coast Park. It was a nature trail organised by the science department with the aim of learning and understand the functions and characteristics of the flora and fauna found at East Coast Park as well as to know how they are dispersed.


P4 Zoo Camp 2017

The Primary 4 students went on a 2-day-1-night camp at the Singapore Zoo and had a fun-filled learning journey. Besides going on enriching guided tours around the zoo and river safari in the day, the girls spent an exciting evening watching the Creatures of the Night Show at the Night Safari. 


P1 LJ to Singapore Art Museum 2017

During the month of February, the Primary 1 students went on a Learning Journey to the Singapore Art Museum. 


Safer Internet Day 2017

In our modern society where technology is an integral part of our lives, our children are very much exposed to the world of the Internet. The ability to interact and communicate with others is one of the biggest attractions of the internet for children and youths. Online gaming has also increased in popularity in the recent years as a source of entertainment. 


Learning Fest 2017

The annual Learning Fest at CHIJ (Katong) Primary School was held on Saturday, 18 February 2017. Parents signed up for workshops conducted by staff and vendors of the school. These workshops were designed to strengthen the partnership between teachers and parents by helping parents have a better understanding of how to support their children in their learning. 


ARTS Assembly Programme - Chinese Dance Kaleidoscope 2017

On Wednesday, 25 January, the Singapore Hokkien Huay Kuan Dance Theatre Limited performed the Chinese Dance Kaleidoscope at Assembly. Students were introduced to Classical Chinese Dance and Traditional Folk Dance. 


Handbell Ensemble - Performance @ SOTA 2017

On 21 January, the Handbell Ensemble participated guest performers in a concert, MOB-X: Classic Celebrations, organized by the Ministry of Bellz. In the days leading up to the performance, the girls put in a lot of effort and were committed in perfecting their ringing. 


P6 LJ to Chinatown 2016

Our Primary 6 students went on a conducted trail of Chinatown on 20 January to explore and learn about the rich heritage of Chinatown. By the end of the trail, the students would have a better understanding and knowledge of the ‘Past and Present Chinatown’ and ‘Life in Chinatown’. 


Feast of Epiphany 2017

On the 6th of January 2017, the school celebrated the inaugural celebration of the Epiphany or what it is also known as, The Three Kings Paraliturgy. Mr Edward Toh shared with the school the true meaning of Christmas and the significance of the Epiphany in relation to Christmas. 


First Day of School @ IJ Katong 2017

It was an exciting day for our girls as they began their school year at CHIJ (Katong) Primary. Many looked happy and excited as they strolled into the school building. 

Beginning of Year Mass 2017

To mark the start of a new school year, we celebrated Mass on 13 January 2017. The theme of the mass was Walk in Love, Live in Unity and it reflected our journey to grow together as a school as One Heart, One Love and One Family.
